Securities Investors Association (Singapore) Investors' Choice Awards
Sembcorp won the Securities Investors Association (Singapore) "Most Transparent Company" award under the multi-industry/conglomerates category for three consecutive years from 2009 to 2011, in recognition of our continued efforts to give stakeholders an accurate, coherent and balanced account of our company and performance.
The Securities Investors Association Singapore (SIAS) is the largest organised investor lobby group in Asia, and actively promotes investor education, corporate governance and transparency. Organisations such as the Singapore Exchange (SGX) and Standard & Poor's have endorsed their annual Investors' Choice Awards, which honour and recognise public-listed companies that demonstrated exemplary corporate governance and transparency practices throughout a financial year.
Singapore Sustainability Awards

Sembcorp was conferred Top Honours in the Singapore Sustainability Awards' Sustainable Business Awards 2011. Our sustainable or "green" business lines have recently become a growing part of our business, delivering an additional competitive edge for Sembcorp and at the same time, creating mutual benefit for our customers, suppliers, partners and the communities in which we operate.
The Singapore Sustainability Awards are presented by the Singapore Business Federation, and are conceived to recognise local enterprises with outstanding sustainable business practices. Companies are assessed on their innovation, corporate social responsibility, commercial potential, sustainable business growth, and their environmental, health and safety and production process management systems.
Singapore Corporate Awards
Sembcorp won the Best Annual Report Award in the Singapore Corporate Awards 2011, for recognising our effort in excellent financial reporting and a wider scope of disclosure. Going beyond the requisite financial information, we also shared our governance structure, strategy, pertinent areas of risk and concern and how the company is managing evolving environmental and social challenges.
The Singapore Corporate Awards are organised by the Business Times and supported by SGX. They present five of Singapore's most reputable corporate awards - Best Annual Report Award, Best Investor Relations Award, Best Chief Financial Officer Award, Best Chief Executive Officer Award and Best Managed Board Award - that are intended to showcase excellence in corporate governance and shareholder communication.
Dow Jones Sustainability Asia Pacific Index

Sembcorp has been selected as an index component of the Dow Jones Sustainability Asia Pacific Index (DJSI Asia Pacific) for 2011. The DJSI Asia Pacific ranks the top 20% in terms of sustainability out of the largest 600 companies in the developed Asia Pacific markets in the Dow Jones Global Total Stock Market Index. Sembcorp is proud to be one of only four Singapore companies selected. The Company's inaugural inclusion in this key index is a firm recognition of our strong emphasis on sustainability and affirms our leadership among Singapore companies in adopting sustainable best practices.
The DJSI Asia Pacific is a subset of the Dow Jones Sustainability Indexes which follow a best-in-class approach to sustainability rating. This approach provides an in-depth analysis of economic, environmental and social criteria, such as corporate governance, water-related risks and stakeholder relations, with a special focus on industry-specific risks and opportunities.
The indexes serve as benchmarks that offer investors exposure to sustainability leaders around the world.
Global Reporting Initiative (GRI) Application Level Check

Sembcorp has included aspects of sustainability in our annual report since 2001 and was one of the first companies listed on the Singapore Stock Exchange to publish a voluntary sustainability report using the GRI G3 guidelines. We continue to use the reporting principles and framework of GRI and have considered its principles in terms of materiality, stakeholder inclusiveness, sustainability context, completeness, accuracy and comparability. Our Sustainability Report 2011 fulfils the requirements of the GRI Application Level B.
