- First Singaporean environmental services company to be conferred by EDB

SembCorp Environmental Management Pte Ltd (SembEnviro) has been awarded the prestigious IHQ status by the Singapore Economic Development Board (EDB), first to confer a Singapore based environmental services company.

Singapore is an iconic brand for its luscious environment and clean city living over three decades. Since its inception in 1999, SembEnviro has industriously built its brand centred on this icon delivering integrated, innovative customised solutions and services to our clients. Thus, we are the epicentre of a clean and green image worldwide.

The company is at its infant growth stage and the IHQ will enhance SembEnviro favourably positioning us as a strong, fore runner in the environmental management services industry, penetrating our entry into the region’s estimated US$18 billion market. Singapore now prides itself as the Envirotech Hub for Asia and SembEnviro will continue to draw attractive technology partners for future projects in Singapore for the region. With our presence in 17 cities and in five major countries including Australia, China, India and Malaysia, Singapore has the ideal physical and pro-business infrastructure to catapult our “SembEnviro” brand regionally.

In addition, this award provides SembEnviro with customised incentive for qualifying income in which we are committed to undertake job creation, training, process improvements to its services, including InfoComm solutions, brand management, legal services, centralised procurement, shared hub and services and development of alternative waste technologies including biologics.

Said Ms Loh Wai Kiew, President & CEO of SembEnviro: “With globalisation in the region, there comes with it demographic explosion in most Asian cities, greater environmental constraints, health protection needs and protection of depleting natural resources. All over Asia there is a need for managing infrastructures and public services well, thus our business requires close partnerships between public and private sectors. Therefore, Singapore has demonstrated its success in this sustainable commitment as a showcase for other cities through our successful partnerships providing modern, reliable means of responding to the needs of the cities and expectations of citizens and industrial clients. In SembEnviro, we hope to double revenues in Asia within the next three years to S$500 million. This will be our most ambitious goal yet.“
