Sakra Emergency Response Brigade (SERB)
is an industrial fire-fighting & rescue consortium established
in late 1996 on Pulau Sakra, Jurong Island. The company is a
division of Sembcorp Utilities,
a global leader for centralised utilities and services to multiple customers in energy intensive clusters.
SERB is charged with the highest level of responsibility for
life and property safety through the extension of fire control,
hazard mitigation and preventive support services. During
emergencies, the company responds as a full service industrial
fire department, or supplements activities performed by internal
emergency response teams.
The stated purpose of SERB is to organize and
maintain a fire-fighting unit. This provides adequate fire
protection, prevention and inspection to owners of petrochemical
and chemical manufacturing plants, terminal tank storage and
marine terminals in or near Pulau Sakra.
SERB operates with funding from the member
companies. These industrial investors share fire-fighting
resources, rather than duplicating efforts - freeing them to
conduct daily operations. SERB can also be called to assist with
fire-fighting for non-member companies. |
