Sino-Singapore Nanjing Eco Hi-tech Island
Nanjing is the capital of the Jiangsu province, where rapid economic growth is driven by science and technological advancements. The Sino-Singapore Nanjing Eco Hi-tech Island (SNEI) is situated on Jiangxinzhou, a National Grade ‘AA’ scenic island just 6.5 kilometres from downtown Nanjing. Designed as a business and innovation hub connecting research and development (R&D) activities of high-tech industries, SNEI also supports China’s green ambitions through its focus on sustainability and environmental protection.
The island’s economic development is spearheaded by its two focus industries of artificial intelligence and water science R&D. Designated a ‘Smart City Demonstration Zone’, SNEI will take centrestage in showcasing the future of Nanjing as companies can pilot new urban solutions on the island to test market readiness.
SNEI is also part of the new Jiangsu Free Trade Zone pilot scheme geared towards promoting integrated development of the Yangtze River region, and fostering overseas investment cooperation in China.

Sino-Singapore Nanjing Eco Hi-tech Island
Half the island will be conserved for eco-tourism, in line with the ecologically-conscious emphasis of the development, while the rest will be developed for office, commercial (retail) and high-end residential use amid water canals and lush greenery.
Sembcorp is developing the Nanjing International Water Hub (NIWH) on the island. The water hub will offer industrial office space for lease to companies involved in the water value chain covering water technology development and innovation, engineering and commercialisation activity. The NIWH will also house more than five laboratories for tenants’ use with services equipped to support laboratory tests of technology readiness levels (TRL) one to nine. Conference facilities will form part of the NIWH to support the NIWH as a leading venue for exchanges on industry ideas and best practices. The NIWH will be completed by 2018.
