Our Businesses

Conventional Energy

We are an established power player with over 9,400MW of conventional power capacity in key markets around the world.

Our competitive edge lies in our global track record as an originator, owner or investor, operator and optimiser of energy assets with strong operational, management and technical capabilities.

We remain committed to operational excellence and providing access to power for quality of life and economic development in the countries that we operate in, even as we continue to explore options to transition our portfolio from brown to green.

Present in: Singapore, Vietnam, Myanmar, Bangladesh, China, UK, Oman and UAE

Natural gas serves as a reliable source of energy as the world moves towards a lower carbon energy system.

As Singapore's first commercial importer and retailer of piped natural gas, we are also its largest player in the natural gas market. We offer a wide variety of gas and gas-related services such as gas sourcing, importation and trading. In addition, we provide customers access to a global portfolio of liquefied natural gas (LNG) sources as an importer of LNG for Singapore.

We have proven capabilities operating gas-fired power plants with technology for greater efficiency and lower emissions, including combined cycle gas turbines, as well as combined power and desalination.

Sembcorp continues to explore ways in which our assets can complement the decarbonisation of the energy sector. Read about our MOU with Chiyoda Corporation and Mitsubishi Corporation to explore the supply chain commercialisation of decarbonised hydrogen to Singapore, which involves potential use tests via our power generation assets.

We maintain a diversified fuel mix to continue to provide essential power to our communities. For efficient operations and to lower emissions, we use supercritical technologies in our coal-fired plants.

Under our strategic plan to transform our portfolio, we also commit to not invest in new coal-fired energy assets.
