Growing our Renewables Portfolio Amid the Pandemic

Sembcorp continued to make good on its commitment to deliver essential services and grow our renewables portfolio in 2020. This was in no small part due to the efforts of our people, who rose to face challenges posed by the pandemic when global travel and movement restrictions severely impacted the flow of goods, services and skilled manpower.

In January 2021, we were awarded the bid for a 400MW capacity solar project in Rajasthan by the Solar Energy Corporation of India (SECI). The successful bid builds on Sembcorp’s standing as a leading independent power producer in India, where we successfully commissioned all 800MW of wind projects from earlier SECI tenders in July 2020. This represents the largest operational wind capacity with any developer to-date from SECI auctions and is testament to the solid execution track record and expertise of our teams in India.

In August 2020, we began the construction of a 60 megawatt-peak (MWp) floating solar photovoltaic (PV) system, one of the world’s largest inland floating solar farms, on Tengeh Reservoir in Singapore. The project is scheduled to start full commercial operations in 2021.

These projects bring Sembcorp’s gross renewables capacity to 3,218MW in operation and under development.
