The Singapore Table Tennis Association (STTA) is proud to announce that it has signed a three-year sponsorship agreement with Sembcorp Industries (Sembcorp). This new sponsorship agreement marks a new long-term relationship between STTA and Sembcorp, which begins on December 9, 2010 and will continue through 2013.

The cash sponsorship is worth S$300,000 and will see Sembcorp’s logo emblazoned on the front of the national players’ jerseys when they play on the overseas professional tour circuit and in the World Championships and World Cup.

The cash sponsorship will also go towards STTA’s effort to raise the level of the game in Singapore and help to nurture more table tennis talents through STTA current programmes to develop youth players for progression into the National Team.

Mr Tang Kin Fei, Sembcorp Group President & CEO, said: “As a home-grown company, Sembcorp is very pleased to be supporting our national table tennis team, which has done Singapore proud with its achievements on the world stage. We hope that this sponsorship will encourage the team to continue to work hard and fly the flag for us at international competitions, and also contribute towards STTA’s efforts to raise appreciation for table tennis in Singapore.”

Er Lee Bee Wah, Member of Parliament for Ang Mo Kio GRC & President, STTA, said: “We are ecstatic to have Sembcorp, a Singapore-headquartered company with its operations spread globally, aboard and we look forward to the partnership.  We are very proud that a big private corporation like Sembcorp has chosen the STTA and table tennis to showcase its brand name to the world”.

Er Lee added, “It is heartening to have local companies supporting local sports. This sponsorship marks the commitment of Sembcorp to collaborate in grooming young sportsmen and sportswomen into the champions of tomorrow.”
