Sembcorp Connect : Energy Insights 2026 - Event Highlights Video
More than 130 senior representatives from across the energy ecosystem gathered at Sembcorp Connect: Energy Insights 2026, where industry leaders, policymakers, financiers and energy consumers exchanged perspectives on one of the most pressing challenges facing businesses today: building resilience amid a rapidly evolving energy landscape.

Held on 30 July 2026, the forum centred on the theme "Energy in Crisis: Resilience in a Fragmented World", exploring how organisations can navigate geopolitical uncertainty, supply chain disruptions, market volatility and accelerating energy demand driven by digitalisation and artificial intelligence.

The event opened with an address by Mr Wong Kim Yin, Group CEO of Sembcorp Industries, followed by a keynote speech by Mr Keith Tan, Deputy Secretary (Energy, Carbon and Corporate) at the Ministry of Trade and Industry. Both speakers highlighted the growing importance of resilience, collaboration and long-term planning as governments and businesses adapt to changing energy realities.

"In an increasingly uncertain world, diversified supply sources, long term partnerships and close collaborations across governments, customers and industries are essential."

"If we continue working together, I'm confident in Singapore. We will not only weather an increasingly uncertain world, but we will continue thriving in it."

A highlight of the afternoon was the panel discussion featuring Mr Bill Chang, CEO of Singtel Digital InfraCo, Mr Lim Wee Seng, Group Head of Energy, Project Finance, Strategic Advisory and Sustainability, Institutional Banking Group of DBS Bank and Mr Martin Houston, Chairman of Omega Oil and Gas.

Moderated by Ms Valerie Lee, Head of Corporate Affairs & Sustainability for Gas & Related Services at Sembcorp Industries, the discussion examined the intersection of rising energy demand, capital flows and geopolitical developments.

Panellists discussed how the rapid growth of AI and data centres is reshaping energy demand, why energy security and reliability are strategic priorities for businesses, and how investors are balancing resiliency, affordability and decarbonisation objectives. They also explored the continued importance of natural gas in supporting energy security during the transition to a lower-carbon future.

The forum underscored a common theme throughout the discussions: energy transition and energy security are increasingly interconnected. Achieving long-term growth will require practical solutions that balance sustainability ambitions with the need for reliable and affordable energy supplies.

The positive response to this year's forum reinforces the relevance of collaborative dialogue as organisations confront new energy challenges. As the regional energy systems become more interconnected, partnerships across industry, government and finance will continue to play a critical role in strengthening resilience and enabling sustainable growth.
