Sembcorp Opens Singapore’s First Solar-powered EV Charging Hub
July 30, 2021
In line with our push for sustainability and in support of Singapore’s transport decarbonisation goals, we have launched the Sembcorp Green EV Charging Hub. It is the first solar-powered electric vehicle (EV) charging hub in Singapore, located at SembWaste’s Tuas depot.
Minister for Transport, Mr S Iswaran, was our guest of honour at the opening on July 19, 2021. We were pleased to host Mr Ng Lang, Chief Executive of the Land Transport Authority and representatives from the National Environment Agency as well.
Equipped with state-of-the-art charging technology, this facility supports SembWaste’s fleet of waste and recycling electric trucks, which will be gradually rolled out from July 2021.
Super-fast facts
- 18 EV charging lots which can conduct about 100 charging cycles a day.
- 120kWh and 50kWh: the power levels of our super-fast direct current (DC) chargers.
- 472kWp of rooftop solar photovoltaic capacity installed, which will power the entire facility – avoiding carbon emissions equivalent to planting 2,793 trees a year.
- 20%: the current proportion of EVs as part of SembWaste’s operational fleet.
