Sembcorp Partners with Atkinsréalis and St Engineering to Build Collective Know-How in Nuclear Energy

October 27, 2026

Singapore, October 27, 2026 – Sembcorp Utilities Pte Ltd, a wholly-owned subsidiary of Sembcorp Industries (Sembcorp), has entered into separate non-binding Memoranda of Understanding (MoUs) with AtkinsRéalis and ST Engineering to facilitate knowledge exchange on nuclear energy and explore potential areas of cooperation in the sector.

Under the MoU with AtkinsRéalis, the companies will share knowledge and perspectives on nuclear energy technologies and industry developments, including technical, safety, regulatory, economic and commercial considerations. The companies will also explore collaboration opportunities in the nuclear energy sector.

Under the MoU with ST Engineering, the knowledge exchange will focus on nuclear technologies, supply chains and international industry practices, as well as training and talent development.

Charles Koh, Chief Operating Officer, Sembcorp, said: “Sembcorp has played an active role in meeting evolving energy needs across our markets, with capabilities spanning gas supply and thermal power generation, renewable energy and energy storage. Nuclear energy is one potential pathway being studied as countries explore longer-term energy sources. These partnerships will enable the knowledge build-up and capability development for nuclear energy technologies and their potential applications. Alongside nearer-term solutions such as our upcoming hydrogen-ready power plant, we are supporting energy security and transition, while positioning our energy business for future opportunities.”

Joe St. Julian, President, Nuclear, AtkinsRéalis, said: “Nuclear energy is recognised as an essential part of a secure, reliable and low-carbon energy system. As the original equipment manufacturer of CANDU technology, one of the world’s leading nuclear technologies, AtkinsRéalis brings more than six decades of nuclear expertise to this collaboration. Through this agreement, AtkinsRéalis and Sembcorp will combine our respective experience and insights to support knowledge sharing and capabilities development in the nuclear sector. We look forward to working together to explore how nuclear can contribute to meeting future energy needs.”

Lee Shiang Long, Group Chief Technology & Digital Officer, ST Engineering, said: “The nuclear energy sector is highly specialised, and developing the expertise and capabilities required takes time. ST Engineering has been building relevant capabilities and technologies in this area, including delivering specialised tungsten coatings for fusion reactor applications and initiating materials research related to advanced reactor components. Through this collaboration with Sembcorp, we can deepen our understanding of the nuclear energy ecosystem, build on this technical expertise, and explore the deployment of ST Engineering’s deep capabilities in advanced engineering, mission-critical command and control systems and cybersecurity as the sector develops.”
