Energy alternatives for a cleaner future
Renewable energy imports can play an important role in expanding access to low-carbon electricity, strengthening energy security and supporting regional decarbonisation efforts.
Through strategic partnerships and regional collaboration, Sembcorp is advancing renewable energy import projects that support greater regional energy connectivity and contribute to an integrated ASEAN Power Grid.
We have achieved several key milestones in our renewables imports business:
- Received conditional approval in 2023 to import up to 1.2GW of low-carbon electricity from Vietnam to Singapore in collaboration with Petrovietnam Technical Services Corporation (PTSC)
- Commenced the import of 50MW of renewable energy from Peninsular Malaysia through a partnership with Tenaga Nasional Berhad (TNB)
- Received conditional approval in 2025, together with consortium partner Sarawak Energy Berhad (SEB), to import an estimated 1GW of renewable energy from Sarawak to Singapore
These projects are expected to enhance access to green energy for customers, support growing electricity demand, strengthen energy resilience and contribute to a lower-carbon energy future.
